Four Signs of Roof Disrepair You Should Never Ignore in Your Home
Your home’s roof might just be the most important part of the entire house. Without a roof, you would have no protection from the elements at all!
As such, making sure your roof stays in good repair is one of the biggest responsibilities a homeowner has. But when was the last time you examined your roof to look for damage or disrepair?
The right time to invest in roofing repairs is as soon as possible — problems left alone can become more complicated and expensive. Not sure how to tell if you need to invest in a roofing repair or not? These are four of the most common indicators that your roof needs the help of roofing experts:
Loose, missing or warped asphalt roofing shingles Eventually, the shingles on your roof will either fall off or become warped due to being exposed to the elements year after year. So if you notice your roof is missing shingles, or its shingles are curved, buckled or cracked, it’s essential to have a roofing expert replace them with the right roofing tools, as missing and damaged shingles can let water in, causing damage to your whole roof.
Loose, missing or visible nails Nails are another essential component of your roof’s integrity — they keep the whole thing together! Missing nails essentially means there is a hole in your roof, while loose or exposed nails are letting in water — which, as you know, leads to expensive damage.
Abnormally high heating and cooling bills Paying more than you’re used to each month for your heating and cooling? It could mean that your roof isn’t doing its job of keeping your home insulated from the elements. In this case, it’s a good idea to have a roofingspecialist look at the roof and evaluate it for any possible damage.
A sagging roof When you examine your roof for potential roofing repair requirements, don’t just look at its exterior — go up into your attic and look at your roof from below as well. If your roof is sagging between your attic’s rafters, you definitely need to have it repaired as soon as possible.
